Your adventure begins as twilight settles over the city, casting a magical glow on the ancient streets. Once the spiritual center of the Incan Empire, this architectural marvel showcases the harmonious blend of Incan stonework and Spanish colonial design.
Next, step back in time as you visit Pachacúteq’s House, the legendary home of the ninth Sapa Inca and one of Cusco’s most revered figures. Feel the echoes of the past as you learn about his significant contributions to the Incan Empire.
Marvel at the Twelve-Sided Stone, a masterpiece of Incan engineering nestled in Cusco’s cobblestone streets. This iconic stone is a testament to the Incas’ unparalleled craftsmanship, fitting perfectly into a wall with no mortar.
Conclude your historical exploration at the School of the Incas, a site that highlights the empire’s advanced knowledge and innovative spirit. As you wander through these landmarks, the stories of the Inca civilization will come to life, immersing you in a world of mystery and wonder.
Savor Traditional Street Food

Along the way, you’ll stop at bustling street stalls and hidden culinary gems to sample Peru’s most beloved traditional dishes. Sink your teeth into succulent anticuchos, skewers of marinated meat grilled to perfection, and enjoy the comforting warmth of tamales, filled with savory or sweet goodness.
Treat yourself to a crispy and flavorful papa rellena, a stuffed potato delicacy that locals adore. For dessert, delight in the sweet, golden goodness of picarones, Peru’s take on doughnuts, drizzled with a luscious spiced syrup.
The culinary journey doesn’t stop there. Indulge your sweet tooth with a tasting of Peruvian chocolate, renowned for its rich, complex flavors and artisanal craftsmanship. How to Book?
Savannah DavenportJune 5, 2024 We had a fantastic free walking tour with Walter who showed us around Mercado de San Pedro as well as the historical centre. This is by far the best free walking tour we have done in Peru, if not in South America. Walter was funny, informative, friendly, and extremely willing to answer all the questions we had. He ended up joining us for a drink after the tour as well, so ultimately spent something like 5 hours with us. We are extremely grateful to Walter for his patience and flexibility. We highly recommend booking with him and his company. Kellyn BarutaMay 5, 2024 A true pleasure. Walter is a joy to be around. He cares about the history, the culture, and most importantly- about the people that travel with him. It’s so great to experience Cusco with someone who has so much passion for what he does- I wouldn’t consider travelling around Cusco with anyone else! Megan EwensMay 3, 2024 Great walking tour! It was fun to get to know Walter and the city of Cusco. He was very kind and knew a lot of local people, a highlight was definitely experiencing the San Pedro market! Hanusia KopystanskyApril 16, 2024 I had an amazing walking tour of Cusco today with Walter of Auqui Tours. He is very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with any questions you may have. He explained everything in full detail. He kept asking if I was OK when we were walking uphill. He also took me to great little spots in Mercado de San Pedro to try different fruits, bread and traditional Peruvian dishes. He also took me to try Pisco and Peruvian chocolate. I would highly recommend this company and Walter as a tour guide. Priska ScherrApril 10, 2024 The best Free Walking Tour I ever had after 10 months travelling trough south east Asia and Central America. He was so friendly and really knows a lot about this place. You can ask him everything. About the history about politics and the best bars in town. Definitely a tour you should not miss out! Kate MacMurchyApril 10, 2024 Walter was a great guide and provided lots of valuable and insightful information about traditional foods and culture in Cusco and Peru. We thoroughly enjoyed trying the different street foods (can’t possibly pick a favourite because they were all delicious!!). Highly recommend!
