Excursion Description
Visit the legendary Queswachaka, the last remaining Inca rope bridge in the world, woven entirely from natural ichu grass by local Quechua communities. This 500-year-old tradition is celebrated annually with a bridge-renewal ceremony recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Depart Cusco heading south through the Vilcanota Valley. Stop at the baroque Andahuaylillas Chapel, known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas." Continue to the ancient Temple of Wiracocha at Raqchi to explore its massive colonnaded hall. After lunch, arrive at the Queswachaka Inca Bridge spanning the Apurímac River canyon. Walk across the swaying 28-meter handwoven bridge and learn about the annual renewal ceremony. Return to Cusco by 6:00 PM.
