Excursion Description
Scale the spectacular seven-colored ridges of Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain). Traverse high valleys filled with hundreds of grazing alpacas and llamas, under the shadow of sacred Mt. Ausangate.
Depart Cusco early for a scenic drive past the South Valley. Savor breakfast in Cusipata, then drive to the trailhead. Hike 1.5 hours through Altiplano scenery to the Vinicunca summit view point (5,036m). Enjoy panoramic vistas of the colored mineral ridges and Ausangate glacier. Hike down, have lunch, and return to Cusco by 5:00 PM.
